RICHARD C. FIREBAUGH STAUNTON, VA… Richard C. “Dick” Firebaugh of 701 Selma Blvd, Staunton, local real estate broker and developer died on December 25, 2016, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born August 9, 1924, in Rockbridge County, the son of the late Ossie D. and John Greenlee Firebaugh. He is survived by his son, Gary L. Firebaugh and wife, Lynell, and his granddaughter, Aimee Frost and husband, Cameron. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Kathryn Riley in 2007, his grandson, Rick Firebaugh in 2012, an infant son, Joseph Allen and two sisters and four brothers. Mr. Firebaugh was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Merchant Marines in 1943 thru 1945. Mr. Firebaugh was very active in the real estate profession for over fifty years. He was past president of the Staunton Augusta Real Estate Board, an original member of the Greater Augusta Association of Realtors and was a recipient of many awards. He served on many boards and commissions of the City of Staunton, as an original member of the Soil and Water Conservation Commission, original member of the former Community Action Board, and was a Chairman of the Staunton Highway Safety Commission. Mr. Firebaugh served thirteen years on the Planning Commission in addition to five years on the Board of Zoning Appeals. Mr. Firebaugh was an active member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, having served as congregational president, Sunday school superintendent, President of the Men of the Church, church treasurer, and in many other capacities, most recently as church trustee. Family visitation will be held Thursday, December 29, 2016, from 7 until 9 p.m. at Henry Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2016, in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Rev. Robert McCarty. Burial to follow at Thornrose Cemetery.    Active pallbearers will be Frank Summers, Oscar D. Campbell, Kenneth Price, George Luzaich, Page Harmon, and Lynwood Craig. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Sheets, Joe Glovier, Bruce Grover, Henry Carey, Robert Law, Walt Flora, Buck Harris, Ron McAllister, and Bill Sowers.
