ROBERT C. CLARKE STAUNTON, VA Rev. Robert Carey Clarke, 78, husband of Joan (Bennetts) Clarke, of 821 Fisher Circle went to sleep in Jesus on April 26, 2011. He was born May 20, 1932, in Richmond, Virginia to Miles and Edna Clarke. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1949 and had been Captain of B Company and also Battalion Commander in the Corp of Cadets. He was a minister of the gospel for 50 years and dearly loved to show the love of Jesus to those he ministered to. He leaves, to share many good memories, his wife of 58 years, Joan, three sons and their wives, Robert, Jr., and Margaret of Chester, Stephen and Kary of Monroe, and Andrew and Terrie Mae of Charleston, SC. He also had five beloved grandsons, Stephen, Jr., David, Matthew, Miles, and Mitchell. A sister and brother-in-law, also survive, Shirley and Eddie Hutson of Timson, TX, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2011, in the Staunton Seventh-Day Adventist Church by Pastor Mike Hewitt. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Malachi Jones, Frank Bowles, Frank Cox, Robbie Payne, John Sypher, Ed Short, Larry Sheffer, and Randy Bosley. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011, in the Henry Funeral Home. In memory of Pastor Clarke, instead of flowers, if you so desire please give a donation to either Staunton Seventh-Day Adventist Church or Harrisonburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church for evangelism.
