ROBERT S. LILLY STAUNTON, VA Robert "Junior" Shields Lilly, 80, widower of Elizabeth (Smith) Lilly, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born May 5, 1933, in Augusta County, a son of the late Robert Shields and Nancy Beckner. He was a lifetime member of Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren. Prior to retirement, Mr. Lilly was employed by Fiberspun for 21 years as a mechanic and also a security guard. He was also a ham radio operator. Family members include a son, Robert A. Lilly of Anaheim, CA and a special friend, Jocelyn Beltran; a daughter, Dorothy R. Lilly of Oregon; three step-children and their spouses, Harry and Patricia Lotts of Staunton, John Lotts of Waynesboro and the late Judith Lotts, and Barbara and Earl Clifton of Staunton; a sister, Myrtle Thompson; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren; and a special niece, Beverley Folk. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Merle Cason and Frances Thompson. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren by the Revs. Grant Simmons and Whitney Parrish. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren. The family will receive friends following the service. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren, P.O. Box 2456, Staunton, VA 24401.
