ROSCOE V. BOTKIN, SR. STAUNTON, VA… Roscoe Vaiden Botkin, Sr., 86, husband of Elsie (Kelley) Botkin, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018, in Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center, Fishersville. He was born December 31, 1931, in Headwaters, a son of the late William Ernest and Vernie Catherine (Armstrong) Botkin. Mr. Botkin was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. Prior to retirement, he was owner of Roscoe Botkin Plumbing and Heating in Staunton, having started the business in 1962. He was an avid hunter, loved antique engines and John Deere tractors. In addition to his wife, family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, Roscoe, Jr., and Myra Botkin and Gregory Scott and Lisa Botkin, all of Staunton; two grandsons, Christopher Scott Botkin and his wife, Jessica, and Christopher Allen Cary, all of Staunton; two great grandchildren, Jon David Lyle and Harper Jane Botkin; two sisters, Wilma Wimer of Staunton and Alice Shifflett of Harrisonburg; two brothers, Weldon Botkin of Harrisonburg and Joseph Botkin of Staunton; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother, Leeson Botkin; and three sisters, Dorothy Hupman, Annie Lee McCray, and Vergie “Peggy” James. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2018, at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens by the Rev. Greg Czerniak. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018, in the Henry Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
