Ruby Ann (Foster) Sebrell, 92, widow of Thomas R. Sebrell, of Staunton, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at her residence. She was born October 15, 1926, in Richmond a daughter of the late William A. and Elizabeth (Bentley) Foster. She was a graduate of Virginia School for the Deaf, Class of 1947. Prior to retirement, she was employed by VSDB with 30 years of service. Ruby was very involved in the Shenandoah Valley Club for the Deaf in Staunton for many years and she and her husband were the founders. She was active in the First Baptist Church, where she also taught the deaf Sunday school for a long time. She was avid in cross-stitching and quilting. She also enjoyed trying new recipes and served them for friends. In addition to her husband of 62 years, she was also preceded in death by a brother, William “Red” Foster. Family members include a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Gigi Foster; three sisters, Mary Minor, Betty West, and Margaret Hall; numerous nieces and nephews; and special family friends, Frances, Mike and Thomas Marzolf. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2018, in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Murphy Terry. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018, in the Henry Funeral Home.
