Russell Hugh Helmick

RUSSELL H. HELMICK  STAUNTON, VA… Russell Hugh Helmick, 81, husband of Sara (Kesterson) Helmick, of Staunton, died Friday, January 6, 2017 at his residence. He was born October 13, 1935 in New Hope, a son of the late Ezra P. and Mary L. (Marshall) Helmick. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the City of Staunton Public Works for 19 years. In addition to his wife, family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Manuel Hutchens and Tina and Danny Smith, all of Churchville; a brother, Toby Helmick and companion, Vickie, of Stuarts Draft; a sister, Joanne Simmons of West Virginia; two grandchildren, Nikki and Rusty Smith; and two great grandchildren, Ethan and Brooklyn Smith. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Marshall Helmick and a sister, Betty McCumbers.   A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in Augusta Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home.
