RUTH A. CAMPBELL STAUNTON, VA The life of Ruth Ann Campbell came to a peaceful end on October 1, 2014. A longtime resident of Staunton, VA "Honey," as many affectionately called her, was raised in Brownsburg, VA by Walter Irvine and Ruth Moneymaker Lunsford. While it was Mrs. Campbell's request not to make a fuss over her life after death, her family wishes to express their pride and gratitude posthumously. Born on February 5, 1927, Mrs. Campbell discovered an affinity for caring for others at an early age; this eventually led to a robust career in nursing. A true product of the depression-era, Mrs. Campbell dedicated endless holidays away from family and overtime hours to the patients and staff at Kings Daughters Hospital (retiring in 1992). Along with devoting time to a meaningful career, Mrs. Campbell placed much emphasis on family; specifically catching the eye of a young man from Saltville, VA. in the early 1950's. The late R. Blake Campbell and Ruth Ann Lunsford were married on March 29, 1952. A daughter, Kathy Ann Campbell (Botkin) of Staunton, VA, was born on June 25, 1953. In her later years, Mrs. Campbell preferred spending the majority of her time with her 2 grandchildren, Bradley C. Botkin of Charlottesville, VA and Erin R. Botkin of Staunton, VA. Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by sisters Bess Knott (husband George Knott), Dorothy Smith (husband Johnny Smith), and is survived by brothers Walter Lunsford (wife Doris Lunsford) and Gene Lunsford (wife Linda Lunsford). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Salvation Army, 1700 W. Beverley Street, Staunton, VA 24401. The family will receive those wishing to pay their respects on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 10 until 11:30 a.m. in the Henry Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery.
