Ruth "Kay" Smith

Ruth Kay Bosserman Smith, 76, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.

Kay, as she was known by, was the daughter of Earl Walker and Lora Kyle Bosserman, born on July 7, 1946.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband William (Bud) Smith, her brother Earl Walker, Jr. (Buddy) Bosserman, and a special cousin Loretta (Rette) Cline.

Kay is survived by her aunts, Marjorie Christine Mahanes and Judy Hostetter, and uncle, Gary Bosserman, numerous cousins, many friends, and her special furry friend, Benji.

Kay was quite the athlete, a terrific softball (catcher) player. She and her husband bowled in many tournaments. She so enjoyed the Staunton Braves baseball and was scorekeeper for years.

Kay was a bus driver for Staunton Public Schools. She loved the children and they loved her.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she drove their Sunday bus for a long time.

Kay had a very giving spirit and will be missed by family and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 16, 2022 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ryan Oswald. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Augusta Memorial Park.
