Sandra Lee Derfler

SANDRA S. DERFLER STAUNTON, VA Sandra Lee (Schleicher) Derfler, 66, wife of Don Derfler of 398 Eagle Rock Lane, died Saturday, January 10, 2015, at her residence. She was born May 20, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late William and Marion (Outten) Scheicher. Prior to moving to Staunton, she was employed by West Penn Hospital in Pennsylvania and retired from UVA Home Care. She was a member of the National Neonatal Nurses Association. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. In addition to her husband, family members include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lee E. and Tanya Derfler of Wendell, North Carolina and Jason D. Derfler of Zebulon, North Carolina; a sister, Barbara Sims of Swoope; nine grandchildren, Kayce Derfler of Craigsville, Lee Derfler, Jr., Nadia Derfler, Hunter Cheney, Mason Derfler, Hannah Cheney, Alexis Derfler, Jackson Derfler, and Ava Derfler. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Schleicher, Jr. and a sister, Terri Schleicher. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015, in Bethany Lutheran Church by the Rev. Timothy P. Bohlmann. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery in Crimora.
