Sara Garrison

SARA M. GARRISON VERONA, VA… “June” Sara Garrison, born June 2, 1935 to Wade and Delpha Meyerhoeffer in Augusta County, passed away in her home Sunday, April 29, 2018. She was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Robertson; her parents; three sisters; and a brother.  She is survived by her husband, “Gene” Ernest Garrison; a daughter, Donna Langford and her husband, Thomas, and Donna’s daughter, Gretchen Rhodecap; a daughter, Katrina Hinegardner; a step-son, William Garrison and his wife, Kim, and their four children and two grandchildren; a step-son, Anthony Garrison and his wife, Lisa, and his two children and two grandchildren. She leaves behind her sister, Mildred Moore; her brother, Nelson Meyerhoeffer and his wife, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Hi-Noon Senior Club and played on the tennis and basketball varsity teams at Wilson Memorial High School. June graduated from Wilson Memorial High School with the Class of 1952. She retired from Western State Hospital in 1991 as a medical secretary. She was a member of Annex United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful wife and mother, a friend to all and will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev.  Gayle Thornberry.  Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Annex United Methodist Church, 1570 New Hope Road, Staunton, VA 24401.
