Rhinebeck, NY – Selma M. Staubus, entered into rest Monday, September 10, 2018 at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck. She was 91. Daughter of the late George D. and Elvena Hoyle Hipps, she was born March 6, 1927 in Belwood, North Carolina. She married James E. Staubus on January 10, 1947 in Washington, D.C. Mr. Staubus preceded her in death in March of 1980. Prior to her retirement, Selma worked as an office manager in Virginia. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Dietz and her husband, Richard of Lakeside, Ohio; her grandchildren, Melissa Dietz Schall and her husband, Eric of Buffalo and James R. Dietz and his fiancée, Allison Farrell of Pataskala, Ohio; her brother, William Hipps of Atlanta, Georgia; her sisters, Frances Batt of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Betty Jo Tarr of Atlanta, Georgia; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, George and J.T. Hipps. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Mount Solon, Virginia at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2018.
