SHIRLEY S. EPPARD STAUNTON, VA Shirley Selby Eppard of Baldwin Park, 21 Woodlee Road went to her heavenly home on November 18, 2014. Mrs. Eppard was born in Norfolk, Virginia on February 24, 1927 and is the daughter of the late Louise Kuester Selby and Lee Hartman Selby. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles Harold Eppard formerly of Elkton, Virginia. Also preceded in death by her brother William Hartman Selby of San Diego, California and her special pet dog "Peaches". Mrs. Eppard is survived by a daughter, Karen Eppard Hall, son in law Douglas Dean Hall, grandson Kevin Lee Hall and his wife Christina Tarullo Hall and their child and her great grandson Daniel James Hall. She is also survived by a daughter Jannette Louise Miller and son in law Michael Anderson Miller. Mrs. Eppard was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and Dunsmore Business College of Staunton. She was a devoted housewife and mother. Linden Heights Baptist Church was an important part of her life. She was a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class and enjoyed serving on the Baptism Committee. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. Most all of her life she was involved in baton twirling. She touched the lives of hundreds of young students over the fifty years that she taught throughout the Shenandoah Valley. Her love of majorettes filled her life with parades, twirling, music and many lasting friendships. A service will be conducted by Rev. Luke Smith at Henry Funeral Home on Friday, November 21 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times at the home of Doug & Karen Hall, 301 Sussex Drive, Staunton. Interment will be at Thornrose Cemetery following the service. Active pallbearers will be Fred Sprouse, Clyde Robertson, Ray Higgins, Dale Humphreys, Scott Almarode, and Winfield Daniel. Memorial donations may be made to Linden Heights Baptist Church, 371 Linden Drive, Staunton, VA.
