Shirley T. Huffer

Shirley Temple Huffer, of 310 Ridge Road, our beloved mother, entered the gates of heaven Friday, July 26, 2013, to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 4:16 a.m. at Augusta Health in Fishersville. She was born Nov. 22, 1939, in Nelson County to the late Aubrey and Fronnie Bartley. She is preceded in death by a sister Evelyn; husband, Roy; and a grandson, David Pannell Jr. She leaves behind to carry on in their hearts, Debbie Good, Becky Frenger, Roy Huffer III, Patricia Pannell, Leon Huffer, and Kevin Huffer, all of Staunton. She is also survived by sisters, Mary, Claudia, Ruby, Juanita, Margie, Delphie; and a brother Dolan. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Windy and Jessica Pannell, Roy, Ashley and Sabrina Huffer, Aaron, Ryan, Temple, Joseph Huffer and Brandon Bowers; and two great-grandchildren Kingston and Jaxon Huffer. Shirley's daughter Debbie's purpose in life was to care for her mother and brother, Leon. She was the first face in the morning to see and the last face at night. Shirley was there when Debbie took her first breath and Debbie was there holding her hand when she took her last breath. She also leaves behind a special daughter-in-law Dawn Huffer, who helped care for our mother. Your last few weeks on earth, you struggled for breath, so weak you could hardly sit up. Every second of every day broke our hearts. Now, we know you are in heaven breathing heaven's sweet air and able to run on streets of gold and go all the places you dreamed. A memorial service will be conducted at Growing Together Fellowship at 439 Commerce Square Staunton, VA 24401 at 6:30pm Tuesday.
