SHIRLEY W. MURPHYSTAUNTON, VA...Shirley (Whitesell) McGrath Murphy, 80, wife of Stanley Murphy, of Fishersville, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Augusta Health.She was a daughter of the late Wayt Hamilton and Catherine (McLear) Whitesell.In addition to her husband, family includes a son, Ray McGrath (Sandra); two daughters, Terry Campbell (Bill Miller) and Connie DeShong (Dennis); step-son, Monty Murphy (Carole); two step-daughters, Malissa Yoder (Karl) and Minday Craun (Gary); siblings, Jack, Paul, Joe Whitesell and Mabel Campbell; five grandchildren, Brian (Amanda), Sally (Jonathan), Amy (Josh), David (Kelsey), Hilary (Austin); special friend, Jo Luck; and a number of special step-grandchidren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.She was preceded by her first husand, Winfred McGrath; and siblings, Russell, Fred, Junior Whitesell, and Helen Cash.A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015, in Fishersville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ryan Oswald. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.Active pallbearers will be Brian Campbell, Jonathan Fitzgerald, Josh Dunlap, Billy Cash, Travis Richie, Josh Richie, and Steven Craun.Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Sunday School Class and Fishersville United Methodist Church choir.The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2015, in the Henry Funeral Home and other times at the residence.Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
