Sibyl Epperley Earhart

MIDDLEBROOK Sibyl Elizabeth Epperley Earhart, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was called home on January 10, 2015 to the place that her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ had prepared for her. She leaves behind the one who called her his "prize"-her husband Lloyd Walter Earhart of Middlebrook. They were married April 10, 1949 in the Bethel Presbyterian Church manse and remained happily married for over sixty-five years. Also left to cherish her memory are her three daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Wayne Huffman of Greenville, Pam and Larry Clemmer of Middlebrook, and Teresa and Tom Rosemeier of Churchville. Her precious grandchildren and their spouses are Tim and Dianna Clemmer, Philip and Stacy Clemmer, all of Middlebrook, Chris and Tammy Huffman of Steeles Tavern, Amanda and Jeff Pfeifer of Warrenton, Ryan and Natalie Ballew of Churchville, Michael and Katie Ballew of Staunton, Jordan Ballew of Churchville, and Chris, Garrett, Vienna Rosemeier, all of Staunton. Also blessed to have her as their great-grandmother are Ashlyn, Matthew, Kayla, Justin, and Cyrus Clemmer, Colton and soon-to-be-born baby boy Pfeifer, Mia Ballew, Gracie Sargent, and Charlie Elizabeth Ballew. Mrs. Earhart was born April 9, 1929 in Elliston, Virginia to Roscoe Swaker and Mary Wills Epperley. Her family moved to Augusta County when she was in the fourth grade. She was a member of the last graduating class of the old Stuarts Draft High School and was senior class president. She was a faithful member of Greenville Baptist Church for over sixty years where she held numerous positions: clerk for over fifteen years, treasurer for over twenty-five years, choir member, Sunday School teacher, and Ladies' Bible study leader. She also wrote many beautiful poems during her lifetime. Her husband made sure that she was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of going to the Holy Land and walking where Jesus walked. She was preceded in death by her parents, a stillborn son, and also her sister Maida E. Duncan Barton. Her sisters, Abbie E. Basham and Beulah E. Conner and brother, the Reverend R.S. Epperley survive her as well as many nieces and nephews. Her husband has said many times that she was the perfect wife. She exemplified the Proverbs 31 wife and mother. More than anything, she wanted her family and friends to know and love Jesus Christ. The family extends deep gratitude to Dr. Dennis Hatter, who gave her many years of devoted care, Faye Taylor and Sissy Davis, who cared for her during the months she was at home, Dr. Rob Marsh, and Melvin Bender and the entire staff of Blue Ridge Christian Home (Beulah Land Campus) in Raphine where she was lovingly cared for during the last fifteen months of her life. Visitation will be at Greenville Baptist Church in the fellowship hall from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 with the celebration of her life being at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary led by Pastor Jamie McClanahan assisted by Pastor Don Long. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be members of the adult Sunday School classes of the church. Interment will be at Old Providence A.R.P. Church. Those desiring may call Henry Funeral Home at any time to pay their respects. Henry Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
