SOPHIE J. TAYLOR STAUNTON, VA Sophie Jeanette (Johnson) Taylor, 70, of 129 Richardson Street, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Augusta Health, Fishersville. She was born July 13, 1941, in Staunton, a daughter of Jaddie B. (Franklin) Johnson and the late Allen W. Johnson, Sr. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Hollister's. She was a member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Cecil Smith Jr. and a sister, Carrie Morman. Family members include two sons, Tyrone W. Smith and Jeffrey E. Smith, both of Staunton; four daughters, Jaddie Louise Smith of Groveland, FL, M. Tracey Taylor of Oxonhill, MD, Lee Taylor and Susan G. Taylor, both of Staunton; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Allen W., Jr., and Mary Johnson, Lenwood B. Johnson, and Vance E. Johnson, all of Staunton; a sister and brother-in-law, Edmonia and Louis Calloway of Staunton; eighteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Revs. Samuel J. Anderson and James McIntosh. Burial will follow in Fairfield Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Smith, Cedric Jones, James Miller, Kevin Jones, Thomas Tony, and William Ellis. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and other times at the residence.
