STANLEY B. KUYKENDALL VERONA, VA… Stanley Blaine Kuykendall, of Verona, has passed on at the age of 89 to live in his eternal home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He was surrounded by his loving family and at peace after a painful battle with Lymphoma. Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Velma Kuykendall, his four children: Stanley Kuykendall Jr, Richard Kuykendall, Barbara and Jerry Swisher,  Lisa and Dale Lam; one brother: Ernest Kuykendall, his grandchildren: Missy Wittig, Amy and Jeremy McManaway, Jenni Lockhart, Brian Lam, Christopher and Tiffany Keller,  Trevor and Jacob Lam; and a number of special great grandchildren: Zakkary Wittig, Tristen Simmons, Alyssa Wittig, Landon Simmons, Addison Lam, Gavin Keller, Alaina McManaway, Austin Lam; and many special nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and two sisters, as well as his mother and father in law, and three special brother in laws.                     Stanley was born in Petersburg WV to Ernest and Mary Kuykendall.  He was one of 10 children.  He moved to Augusta County as a young man and met his soul mate and was wed.  He was in the Korean War, and has always been a proud Veteran of the United States Army.  He retired from American Safety Razor.  He was an avid hunter, a devoted Christian and never met a stranger.  Stanley was a strong, proud, honest man that loved the Lord, his family and his Country.  He will be missed by many but never forgotten by any.  He truly loved everyone he met. The family wishes to acknowledge the following doctors that lovingly cared for Stanley: Dr. Kerry Alexander, Dr. George Verghese, Dr. Jaime Escanellas, and special oncologist Dr. Reshma Khetpal and staff at AH Cancer Center.  The family will receive friends at a visitation this Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 PM at Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church, Grottoes.  A celebration of life service will be held this Thursday at 1 PM at Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church, Grottoes, conducted by  the Rev. Jonathan A. Ytterock and the Rev. Dr. Paul O’Gorek. This is a day lovingly shared with his wife as we celebrate her birthday as well.  Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park, Waynesboro.   Active pallbearers will be his son Stanley Kuykendall Jr, his three grandsons Christopher Keller, Trevor and Jacob Lam, and his two great grandsons Zakkary Wittig and Tristen Simmons.  Honorary pallbearers will be grandson Jeremy McManaway, special friends Kevin Roadcap and Allen Strickler, two special nephews Mike Fultz and Kevin Kuykendall. A special candle lighting will be done by great grandchildren Alyssa Wittig and Landon Simmons. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church, 4517 Rockfish Road, Grottoes, VA 24441 or The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
