STEPHEN K. BURNS, JR. SWOOPE, VA Stephen Kenneth Burns, Jr., widower of Doris Rebecca (Reynolds) Burns, of 2301 Hewitt Road, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, in Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born November 29, 1929, in Augusta County, a son of the late Stephen K. Sr., and Virginia Martha (Raines) Burns. Mr. Burns was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a thirty year owner and operator of Buffalo Gap Service Center and retired from Obaugh Ford. He was a member of the Staunton Masonic Lodge #13, Shriners Mini Patrol, Buffalo Gap Ruritan Club, and Ruritan Nationals. He was a member of Buffalo Gap Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Samuel N. Burns. Family members include a son, Kevin Burns of Buffalo Gap; a daughter, Stephanie Ann Monroe of Swoope; a brother and sister-in-law, Lewis P. and Erma Burns of Buffalo Gap; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra Kaye and Bob McDaniel of Buffalo Gap; a sister-in-law, Frances Burns; three grandchildren, Austin K. Burns of Charlottesville, Brian Monroe and wife, LeeAnn, of Vermont, and Michael Monroe andwife, Sarah, of Waynesboro; three great grandchildren, Amelia Monroe, Arie Monroe, and Emily Snead; a very special friend and companion, Isabel Robertson; and special friend, Greg Obaugh. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2015, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Carol Miller. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Gene Sours, Dan Stogdale, Buster Lovegrove, Greg Obaugh, Michael Monroe, David McDaniels, Jonathan McDaniels, and S. N. Burns. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015, in the funeral home and other times at the home of his daughter, 16 Lowery Lane, Swoope, VA 24479. Memorials may be made to Buffalo Gap Presbyterian Church, Staunton Masonic Lodge #13, or Staunton American Legion.
