Stuart Erskine Lotts

GREENVILLE, VA Stuart Erskine Lotts, 77, husband of Betty (Bradley) Lotts, of Lee Jackson Highway, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Augusta Health. He was born on August 13, 1936, in Spottswood, a son of the late Cooper Erskine and Ruby (Wheeler) Lotts. Mr. Lotts served in the US Army. He was a retired Rural Letter Carrier and until his illness was employed by the Augusta County Parks and Recreation Department. He enjoyed volunteering in the concession stand at the Spottswood-Raphine Ruritan club baseball fields. He was a lifelong member of Old Providence ARP Church where he served for many years as a Deacon and as a Cemetery Trustee. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Marty Schwartz of Charlotte, NC, and Beth and R.D. Yowell of Stuarts Draft; three grandchildren, Cooper Yowell and Avery and Sophie Schwartz; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Shirley Lotts, and Finley and Vicki Lotts; and one sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Dave Chapman. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Gary Bradley and his wife, Teresa; a sister-in-law, Connie Bradley; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Lotts and a brother-in-law, Donald Bradley. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Old Providence ARP Church in Spottswood by Rev. H. Max Bolin. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends following the service in Providence Hall.
