SUE J. DIEHLSTAUNTON, VA…. Sue (Jackson) Diehl, “Gon-Gon”, 69, of Staunton, Virginia entered her Heavenly home on May 21, 2016. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Union, West Virginia, a daughter of Ezra and Irene Landsaw Jackson on September 3, 1946. She was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Jackson Helmick and a brother-in-law, Harry Price. She is survived by her children, Sherry Ramsey and husband, Larry, of Staunton, Kelly Brown and husband, Michael of Crimora, and Daniel Diehl and wife, Julie of Staunton. She was the proud Gon-Gon to grandchildren, Cody Clifton, Cory Ramsey and wife Tory, Morgan Diehl, Jeremy Ramsey, Blake Hutchins and great grandchildren, Cayden Ramsey, Jase Diehl, Corey Ramsey, Alexander Cabell, and Tori and Calvine Chapman. She also leaves behind two sisters, Jackie Price of Verona and Barbara Carter and husband, Daniel, of Staunton. She earned her LPN Certification at Valley Vocational Technical Center School of Practical Nursing in 1983 and worked as a nurse on the OB-GYN unit at King’s Daughters’ Hospital and later Augusta Medical Center for over 20 years. Memorial donations may be made in Sue’s memory to Hospice of the Shenandoah, c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Shenandoah Baptist Church in Verona with Pastor Frank Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens, Staunton. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and sons-in-law. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Henry Funeral Home.
