Steve I. White Jr.

June 26, 1934 — January 18, 2022

Steve I. White Jr.

Surrounded by the peace and tranquility of the Shenandoah House at Augusta Health, Steve I. (Buck) White, Jr. returned to his heavenly father on January 18, 2022. Born on June 26, 1934 to Steve Isaac and Ollie (Turner) White, in the mountains of Highland County, Steve grew up doing the two things he loved most - hunting and fishing. It was often said he could catch a fish in a mud hole. Years later, he would pass down this love and wisdom of nature to those he knew and loved the most, and enjoyed the many adventures with his hunting and fishing buddies. Full of wit and a friend to all, he will be missed by many.

Steve served our country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He retired from Dominion Resources (VEPCO) in 1992, with over 30 years of service. Steve was also a member of Cherryvale United Methodist Church, where he served devotedly on several committees throughout the years.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a much-loved brother, Tommy L. White and sister-in-law, Evelyn White. Surviving to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 67 years, Nancy M. White, his daughter, who was the light of his life, Thresa G. Lindsay (Bill), and his grandchildren, who could always put a smile on his face, Ashley Lyle (Colt) and Christopher Lindsay (Rebekka). Paw-Paw was always there to attend and participate in anything they were involved in, and taught them many of life's valuable lessons, that will never be forgotten. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren Lindsay and Madison Lyle, Wyatt and Brooklee Lindsay, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Oaklawn Memory Gardens, 1921 Shutterlee Mill Road, Staunton, VA. In accordance with COVID guidelines, the family requests that masks be worn at the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, Post Office Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939. We want to thank this wonderful staff who cared for Steve with so much heart and compassion during his illness, showing God's love to him with each and every step. Special thanks to Mary, Melissa and Brande, who were our guiding lights throughout Steve's journey.
