Thomas Dudley Bartley

THOMAS D. BARTLEY WAYNESBORO, VA… Thomas Dudley Bartley, 84, husband of Betty Miller Bartley, passed away peacefully at his residence Tuesday, September 5, 2017. He was born December 29, 1932, in Spottswood, a son of the late Edgar Hall and Mae Sydney (Troxell) Bartley. He attended Wilson Memorial High School and graduated from Bridgewater College. Prior to retirement, Mr. Bartley was employed by DuPont with 29 years of service. He was founder of Long Meadow Tree Farm. He was a longtime active Ruritan in Verona and Fishersville and was a member of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife of 56 years, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Sharon Bartley; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay Bartley and Tim Quick; and a grandson, Kaleb Bartley. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2017, in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Merle Fisher. The family will receive friends anytime at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to Preston Yancey Volunteer Fire Company, 2015 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, VA 22939.
