THOMAS A. NUCKOLES STAUNTON,VA..Thomas Alexander Nuckoles, husband of Shirley (Harlow) Nuckoles, of 500 C Street, died Friday, November 4, 2016, at Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center, Fishersville. He was born November 21, 1926, in Augusta County, a son of the late Raymond R., Sr., and Mae Ella (Campbell) Nuckoles. Mr. Nuckoles was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was owner/operator of a private pawn, music, and antiques shop. He retired from Kable’s Pawn Shop with 28 years of service. He was a member of the Augusta Staunton VFW Post 2216. In addition to his wife, family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Lee and Robert Sands of Powhatan and Wendy and Roger Williams II of Staunton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl H. and Jan Nuckoles of Stuarts Draft, Raymond, Jr., and Bonnie Nuckoles of Mt. Spring, and Russel L. and Margie Nuckoles of Staunton; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Phyllis and Homer Western of Verona and Hazel Rexrode of Lynchburg; a step grandchild, Natasha Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ransford Nuckoles; and a sister, Dorothy Dotson.A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. David Coffey with graveside rites conducted by Augusta Staunton VFW Post 2216. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2016 in the Henry Funeral Home.
