STAUNTON, VA… It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Coach Thomas Adam Shields, 55, husband of Romona (Nedrow) Shields, of 304 Highland Ave., died Tuesday, September 11, 2018, in Richmond. He was a very much loved husband, father, brother, and PawPaw. He will be missed tremendously. He was born October 31, 1962, in Wiesbaden, Germany, a son of the late Thomas L. and Marianne (Leonard) Shields. Mr. Shields formerly worked for Dr. Pepper Bottling Company for 32 years and was a truck driver for Federated Auto Parts, Staunton.. He was the Assistant Director of the Staunton Youth Football League, previously coached basketball, soccer, baseball, and softball, and Relay for Life volunteer. Thomas was the Dallas Cowboys #1 fan. In addition to his wife, family members include a son, Matthew Adam Shields, a daughter, Brynn Marie Shields, both of the home; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Sandra Shields of Staunton; a brother-in-law, Bruce Nedrow; his mother-in-law, Sue Shiflett; and a granddaughter, Madison Shields. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted by Pastor John Christophel at 6 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2018, in the Gypsy Hill Park Gym. The family will receive friends following the service and at the residence anytime. In lieu of flowers, everyone is asked to root for the Dallas Cowboys Sunday night.
