VIVIAN S. JACKSON STAUNTON, VA Vivian Blair (Snyder) Jackson, 88, widow of Leon W. Jackson of 15 Waverley Green died Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Martha Jefferson Hospital, Charlottesville. She was born June 16, 1924, in Greenville, South Carolina, a daughter of the late James E. and Lurline (Blair) Snyder. As a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, Mrs. Jackson became very active in the Staunton community of arts and music where she held leadership roles with the Beverley Garden Club of Staunton and the Staunton Thursday Morning Music Club. She also enjoyed several trips "overseas" with art groups from Mary Baldwin College. Mrs. Jackson was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She was a member of the D.A.R. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley and Joe Snyder; and a sister, Lida Abbott. Family members include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Steven L. Jackson of Staunton, David B. and Deborah (Knopp) Jackson of Fairfax, and Daniel W. and Patricia A. White-Jackson of Williamsburg; a brother and sister-in-law, Mac E. and Shelia Snyder of Greenville, SC; a sister, Jean Phillips of Greenville, SC; eight grandchildren, Tyler C. Jackson, Blair F. Jackson, Joseph B. Jackson, Patrick H. Jackson, Melinda P. Sutton, Matthew D. Parrott, Stuart W. Jackson, and Nora E. Jackson; and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2012, at Trinity Episcopal Church by the Rev. Dr. Paul Nancarrow. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2012 in the Henry Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, Eastern Mennonite University, 1200 Park Road, Harrisonburg, VA 22802.
