Velta F. Roberts

Velta Frances (Hicks) Roberts passed away, in the company of loving family on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born to the late Frank Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Johns) Hicks on June 14, 1924 in Amherst, Virginia. In 1948 she travelled to New Jersey to marry Wesley Wills Roberts, also from Amherst. They would make their home together in Pennington for 66 years until his death in 2014. She then moved to Staunton, where she was a resident at Valley View Senior Apartments. She is survived by son Wesley A. Roberts and his wife Alicia, daughter Kathy Ann Matucheck and her partner Bruce Cronce, granddaughters Cassie Roberts and Morgan Roberts-Harrison, grandson Nick Smaltino as well as a great grandson and great granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 12, 2021 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm in the funeral home on Monday.
