Staunton, VA…Wallace Jackson Pilson, 79, widower of Nancy D. Pilson, of 44 Springleigh Drive, Staunton, died Saturday, November 24, 2018. He was born July 29, 1939, in Augusta County, a son of the late John Thompson and Mary (Erwin) Pilson. Prior to retirement, Mr. Pilson was employed by DuPont with 40 years of service. He was a member of Greenville Baptist Church, where he received the Deacon Emeritus award. He served as deacon of Bethel and Greenville Baptist Church for 28 years. He was also a member of the Middlebrook Ruritan Club for a number of years. He was an Eagle Scout, a former Scout Master and was a member of Middlebrook Fire Department. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Howard Pilson, and a sister, Lavenia Campbell. Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Danny Hostetter of Natural Bridge; two brothers, John and Roy Pilson, both of Staunton; a sister, Anna Margaret Pond of Chesapeake; special nephew, Ronald Dooley and wife, Jeanette of Staunton; a special niece, Denise Roope of Staunton; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Pastor David Ball. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in the funeral home.
