WALTER V. EGGLESTON, JR. PORT REPUBLIC, VA… Walter Vest Eggleston, Jr., 59, husband of Paula (Grim) Eggleston, of 13711 S. Eastside Highway, died Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at his residence. He was born July 11, 1957, in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Walter V. , Sr., and Elva May (Fitzgerald) Eggleston. Mr. Eggleston was a crane operator for Kanwaha Stone, Fairfield Bridge, and May Brothers. Those who knew him realized what a kind and giving man he was. A very loving husband and family man. In addition to his wife, family members include a daughter, Amanda K. Garcia of Raphine; a son, Walter V. Eggleston, III of Roanoke; two step-sons, Chris Knight and Brad Knight (Brittany), all of Grottoes; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Helen Carter of Greenville, Barbara and Richard Sullivan of Staunton, and Elva and Ted Blankenship of Kentucky; three grandchildren; six step grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special constant companions, Smokey and Copper. He was preceded in death by a sister, Susan J. Groah.A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2016, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Kite. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
