WAYNE A. SPAID, SR. STAUNTON, VA Wayne Allen Spaid, Sr., 84, of Staunton, widower of Juanita Marie (Oates) Spaid, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, in Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born January 8, 1930 in Winchester, a son of the late Albert J. and Ethel M. (Oates) Spaid. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church near Middlebrook and was active in church activities. He was a member of the Staunton Lions Club since 1973, the Sons of the American Revolution, the Rous Fire Company in Winchester since 1946, the Cumberland Valley Firemans Association for 60 years, the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve, the C & O Historical Society for many years, The Motion Picture Pioneers and was associated in Movie Theaters for 44 years having started with Warner Brothers in 1946. He was President and General Manager of Staunton Entertainment, which operated the Dixie and Visulite from 1973 to 1990 and multiplexed the Dixie into a fourplex in 1976. After retirement in 1990, he worked for Farm and Country Stores and then worked for Rocking R. Hardware in Waynesboro. In addition to his wife, whom he married on October 9, 1948, and preceded him in death on October 25, 2008, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Constance E. Spaid-Baker. Family members include a son, Wayne Allen Spaid, Jr. of Stuarts Draft; two daughters, Sharon Yvonne Spaid-Schwartz of Glen Allen and Rebecca Lynn Spaid of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Christopher Wayne, Michael Allen, and Daniel Kyle Spaid and Dwayne Scott Schwartz; and two great grandchildren, Hunter Michael Spaid and Trevor Scott Schwartz. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church by the Rev. JoAnn Bunn. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and Chad Amrhein. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 15,2014, in the Henry Funeral Home and following the service at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Social Hall.
