Wayne Thomas Fix

WAYNE T. FIX STAUNTON, VA Wayne Thomas Fix, 69, of 55 Sunset Blvd., died Saturday, July 13, 2013, at his residence. He was born October 29, 1943, in Staunton, a son of the late Kenneth Thomas and Mildred Elizabeth (Fauber) Fix. He graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in 1962. He attended Dunsmore Business College from 1962 until 1964. He was a member of the Army Infantry from 1965 until 1967 and fought in the Vietnam War. He was a rifle sharpshooter and received many medals including National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, a Good Conduct Medal and most of all the Purple Heart for his sacrifice to our country and freedom. Prior to retirement, Mr. Fix was employed by Smiths Transfer Trucking Company and St. Johnsbury Trucking Company. He was a member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church, but attended First Baptist Church in Staunton. He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his daughter, Sandra Grant Whitaker. Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Fix Edwards and husband, Todd, of Waynesboro; two granddaughters, Kali Rexrode and husband, Lucas and Victoria Ramsey and husband, Cory; a great grandson, Cayden Christopher Ramsey; a great granddaughter, Piper Jane Rexrode; a cousin and special friend, Nancy Brown and husband, Keith, of Staunton; and ex-wife and special friend, Becky Howard of Waynesboro. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Judson Baldwin. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3 p.m. prior to the service in the funeral home.
