WILLIAM F. CALDWELL JR. FISHERSVILLE, VA William Folkes Caldwell, Jr., 92, widower of Hedy Karin (Vellner) Caldwell of Fishersville, died Thursday, November 7, 2014, at Augusta Health. He was born March 24, 1922, in Augusta County, a son of the late William Folkes Caldwell, Sr. and Lucy (McClure) Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II in the European Theater. Prior to retirement, Mr. Caldwell owned and operated Caldwell Drilling and formerly served as superintendent of manufacturing at Westinghouse. He was a member of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years on June 20, 2014. Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, William F. Caldwell, III and Deborah; two grandchildren, Holly Caldwell-Ratwani of Fishersville and Heather Caldwell Hite and husband, Todd of Waynesboro; three great grandchildren, Vaiden and Logan Hite and Zara Ratwani; a brother, Ben Caldwell and wife, Betty Jo; a sister, Mary Ellen Caldwell Lockridge; and one niece and three nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dr. Tully J. Hunter and Rev. April Cranford. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2014 in the Henry Funeral Home. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Blue Ridge Christian Home - Beulah Campus and Dr. John Marsh for the excellent care received.
