William Lyle "Cap" Cash

William Lyle “Cap” Cash Surrounded by his family on February 20, 2018 at 12:25, William Lyle Cash of Raphine left this world to live eternally with Jesus Christ. He is now driving his classic Ford truck on the streets of gold in Heaven. Cap retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation in 1991 after 40 years of service. He was an active member and Deacon of Mt. Paran Baptist Church of Montebello, VA. Cap was born on July 1, 1938 in Staunton, VA, the son of Harry Clinton Cash and Susie Virginia Huffman Cash. Preceded in death in addition to his parents were his 9 siblings, Oscar, Harry Junior, Paul Hase, and Carl Cash, Catherine Mowry, Mary Lee Lilly, Carlos Stump, Anna Norine Waalewyn, and Peggy Sue Warren. Cap is survived by his wife, Charlotte Cash, his 4 children and 6 grandchildren. The families include, Jeff Cash and his family Sandra, Matthew and Jeremiah, John Cash and his children Wesley and Zackery, Dana Cash, Susan Painter and her boyfriend, Randy Eye and Susan’s children Will and Faun. And a number of nieces and nephews that were loved dearly.  Cap is also survived by a very special mother-in-law, Lilly Mae Fitzgerald and a foster grandson, Adam Mays. The family will continue his legacy by reciting his old jokes and stories that were told daily to all that crossed paths with him. Cap was an avid classic Ford truck enthusiast but enjoyed nothing more than spending his days with his family by his side. During his prime years, Cap enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing and going to Nascar races to watch his long-time friend, Fred Lorenzen. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2018 in Raphine Christian Church by the Revs.  Fred Salmons and John Ward. Burial will follow in Old Providence ARP Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at Raphine Christian Church and other times at the residence. It is suggested those desiring to make memorial contributions to please contribute to the Riverheads WRE program at PO Box 352, Greenville, VA 24440. Cap walked with Christ daily and wants young people to know Jesus, which can be started in the WRE program. Other contributions can be made to Mt. Paran Baptist Church in memory of Cap Cash at PO Box 156, Montebello, VA 24464. A special thank you to Hospice and family members, Carolyn Driscoll and Betty and Jim Lucas, who worked tirelessly to ensure Cap was comfortable during his long battle with cancer.
