WILLIAM J. KERRY VERONA, VA William Joseph Kerry, 60, husband of Linda G. Kerry, of 14 Marlene Place, died Saturday, May 19, 2012, in Augusta County. He was born November 19, 1951, in Springfield, Massachusetts, a son of Dorothy Ann (Murphy) Kerry and the late William Joseph Kerry. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Mr. Kerry was employed by the Social Security Administration with 35 years of service. He tried out for the luge team in the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid, NY and was a bobsledder there in previous winters. He enjoyed, skiing, ski jumping, sailing, and coached the VCA Babe Ruth girls softball team. He was devoted to his family. In addition to his wife, family members include two daughters and a son-in-law, Caitlin and Gil Anderson of Southern Shores, NC and Lindsey Kerry and friend, Brian Schuck, of Folsom, CA.; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Helen Kerry of Hooksett, NH; a sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Ray Guilmette of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Vaughn of Kitty Hawk, NC and Sheryl Mills and husband, Larry, of Boiling Springs, PA; a grandchild, Kayleigh Mae Anderson; his father-in-law, James Vaughn of Kill Devil Hill, NC; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Larry Mills. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the S.P.C.A., P.O. Box 2014, Staunton, VA 24402.
