William Mangus Koogler, Ii

WILLIAM M. KOOGLER II RAPHINE, VA William Mangus Koogler, II, 73, husband of Linda Rosen Koogler, of Raphine, went to be with our Lord on July 4, 2014, at his residence. He was born July 8, 1940, in Raphine, a son of the late William Vincent and Mildred (Earhart) Koogler. William graduated from Brownsburg High School in 1958 and from the Virginia Commonwealth University, College of Business, in 1971. He was also a member of Delta Sigma Pi Professional Fraternity. He retired from E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, Spruance Plant where he worked as a manager in the plants of Nylon, Nomex, Tyvek, Kevlar, and Field maintenance. Mr. Koogler served as Lieutenant Governor of Fourth Division, Virginia Kiwanis Club from 1981 until 1982, president of Chester Kiwanis Club from 1979 until 1980, and was a former member of the Lexington Kiwanis Club. He was a man of strong faith and served as an elder for Drewry's Bluff Presbyterian Church, New Covenant Presbyterian Church, and Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church. William was a longtime member of the choirs at all three churches. He was an avid fan and supporter of University of Virginia football and basketball. He took great pride in taking care of his lawn and gardens. William enjoyed vacations at the beach, travelling abroad, deep-sea fishing, being with family and friends, Jimmy Buffet and running in the rain. He was always full of life and seeking ways to help others. In addition to his wife of 51 years, family members include their daughter, Tracy Koogler, MD and special friend, Mark Schimmelpfennig; a son, Todd Koogler and wife Royanne; granddaughters, Lindsay, Madison, Emilia, and Victoria; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Koogler; brothers-in-law, Melvin E. Rosen, Jr. and wife, Peggie, and Dr. Fred P. Rosen and wife, Margaret; nieces, Trena Koogler-Carroll, Tanya Koogler, Trisha Koogler Jeffries and families; and a host of dear friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Wayne Koogler. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014, in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church by the Revs. Olivia Haney and Kerry Foster. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, in the Henry Funeral Home.
