WILLIAM L. PARRISH STAUNTON, VA William "Bill" Lucian Parrish, 80, widower of Doris Evonne (Craig) Parrish of 66 Niswander Road, Staunton, died Friday, December 9, 2011 at Shenandoah Hospice House. He was born November 7, 1931 in Laurel Hill, a son of the late Marvin Hampton and Gertrude Rosser (Batten) Parrish. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Parrish was retired from Augusta County Schools as a custodian and a school bus driver. Mr. Parrish was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by three brothers. Family members include two sons, William Franklin "Billy" Parrish of Dooms and Garry David Parrish of Middlebrook; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa K. and Jerry Tisdale of Crimora; a sister, Mae Virginia Flavin; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2011, in Laurel Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Russ Waldrop and Rev. Russell Heinrich. Burial will follow in Barren Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Joe Miller Danny Sawyer, Jerry Cleveland, Gene Shuey, Tommy Ross, David Diehl, Earl Miller, and James Eavey. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Henry Funeral Home ( www.henryfuneralhome.net ) and other times at the home of his daughter, Teresa Tisdale, 104 Crimora Mine Road, Crimora. The family would like to thank Hope Cancer Center, Hospice of the Shenandoah, and his extended family and friends at Cracker Barrel of Staunton, Rackem Smackem in Verona, McDonalds in Verona, and New Hope Grocery.
