WILLIAM L TUTTLE STAUNTON, VA William Littleton Tuttle, 87, of 744 Parkersburg Turnpike, died Friday, December 14, 2012, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville. He was born June 11, 1925, in Craigsville to James Brooks and Juanita (Angus) Tuttle. He attended schools in Craigsville and neighboring states due to his father's construction work. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard a destroyer escort, the USS Hissem. Upon discharge from the Navy, he was employed by the DuPont Company in Waynesboro, working through manufacturing positions and retiring as a supervisor in the Benger Research Laboratory with over 30 years of DuPont service. While working at DuPont, he met and married Elva Crickenberger in 1947. In addition to his wife, survivors include, a son and daughter-in-law, William Southard and Kim Tuttle; four grandchildren, Christopher Tuttle and his wife, Heidi, of Charlottesville, Nicole Cridlebaugh and her husband Cam, of High Point, North Carolina, Shea Tuttle of Covington, and Tyler Tuttle of Augusta Springs; four great grandchildren, Tilman, Rowan, and Emily Cridlebaugh, and Sieria Hott of Covington; a brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Janet Tuttle of Swoope; a brother-in-law, Homer Crickenberger; a sister-in-law, Margaret Crickenberger; and a number of nieces and nephews. He has been a devoted member of Hebron Presbyterian Church since 1955. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012, in Hebron Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall of the church. An interment service for family and close friends will precede the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hebron Presbyterian Church. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
