Wilmer Ray Mcdorman

WILMER R. MCDORMAN STAUNTON, VA Wilmer Ray McDorman, 83, husband of Opal Avanelle (Botkin) McDorman, of Staunton, died Friday, November 1, 2013, in the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville. He was born December 13, 1929, in Staunton, a son of the late George W. and Lola B. (Shiflett) McDorman. Mr. McDorman served in the National Guard and the U.S. Army. Prior to retirement, he was owner of Staunton Tree Service. He attended the First Church of God. In addition to his wife, to whom he married in 1952, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Danny Ray and Sylvia McDorman of Staunton; a sister, Lydia Keller of Staunton; a grandson, Steven R. McDorman; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two children, Steven McDorman and Darla McDorman; and ten siblings. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2013, in the First Church of God by the Rev. Sylvia McDorman. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church. Memorials may be made to the First Church of God, Building Improvement Fund, 1850 Shutterlee Mill Road, Staunton, VA 24401. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
