Alfred Benjamin “Bill” “Paw Paw” Varner, 80, husband of Linda (Rhodes) Varner died on August 27, 2021 at Augusta Health.
Mr. Varner was born on August 1, 1941 in Augusta County to the late Edward Benjamin and Elizabeth (Marshall) Varner.
He worked as a route salesman for 46 years for Augusta Dairy and Shenandoah Pride. Prior to this he worked as a laborer on a dairy farm, which he was proud of.
Bill loved to bass fish, was an avid fan of classic country music, and loved muscle cars. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and target shooting. Paw Paw also loved watching his grandson Spencer play baseball.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by two sons, Stephen Varner of Richmond and Michael Varner (Chelsea) of Middlebury, IN; and five grandchildren, Spencer, Derek, Mason, Taryn, and Ian Varner.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Betty Dempsy.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Henry Funeral Home.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at Union Presbyterian Church, Churchville, VA on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 1:00 P.M.
