Arnold L. Brown

Arnold Lee Brown, 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Brookdale Staunton. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and service that touched the lives of many.

He was born on December 4, 1950, in Harrisonburg, to the late Russell David and Dortha "Dottie" Pheba Kiser Brown.

Arnold dedicated much of his professional life to his role as a shop foreman at Southern Stainless Equipment in Waynesboro.

Beyond his career, he was a man of many interests and passions. Arnold loved the outdoors - especially going on hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling adventures with his son and friends, particularly enjoying trips to the North River. He cherished his time in the mountains with his family in Gatlinburg, TN, as well as many beach trips to Nags Head, NC.

A diehard Washington Redskins fan, Arnold’s enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and he often shared this passion with those around him.

Arnold’s heart was defined by his unwavering dedication to helping others. Whether mowing grass or painting homes, he was known for always lending a helping hand. His genuine spirit of service demonstrated his servant's heart, reflecting his commitment to making a difference in the lives of those in need. Above all else, Arnold treasured the moments spent with his family, especially with his granddaughter, who was a light in his life.

Arnold is survived by his loving wife, Shirley "Jeanne” Tankesley Brown; his son, James “Jamie” Brown and his wife, Barbara; his step-son, Mark Glenn and his wife, Laura; his sisters, Judy Ann Brown Armstrong and her husband, Bill, Frances Kay Brown Dudley, and Linda Fay Brown Hodge and her husband, Gene; his granddaughter, Taylor Brown, his step-grandchildren, Alex Glenn and his wife, Taylor, and Mark Glenn, Jr.; his brothers-in-law, Joe Tankesley and wife, Brenda, and John Tankesley; his special friend, Wayne Eavey; and his two cherished cats, Yellar and Mr. Grey.
