Aubrey D. Bartley

Aubrey “Big Guy” Dowlen Bartley, 73, husband of Terresa C. Bartley, of Anthony Street, went to be with our heavenly father on Monday, November 22, 2021.

He was born on June 11, 1948 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Aubrey S. and Fronnie (Cash) Bartley.

Mr. Bartley had a 30-year career in the towing business with Dolan’s Towing and Gatorz Towing. He loved towing and he enjoyed spending time with his wife, family, grandchildren and his special friend, his dog, Boo-Boo Dog.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Willy Rowe; six daughters, Heather Rowe, Terresa Gill, and Victoria Varnes, Lori Collins, Tina Farris and Sonya Breeden; six sisters, Mary Moyers, Ruby Simmons, Juanita Sprouse, Margie Howdyshell, and Delphie Conley, his twin sister; and many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley Huffer, Claudia Knight and Evelyn Meeks; and by a special grandson, Hendrixx Amari, whom he called his “Angel Baby”.

In honoring his last wishes, there will be no funeral or other services.

He walked with a “Big” Heart and a smile that would light up an entire room. He will be missed by all!
