Barbara “Bobbie” Ellen Persinger, 75, of Staunton, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026.
She was born on October 13, 1950, in Staunton, the daughter of the late Allen Lee Persinger, Sr. and Katherine Ellen (Grove) Persinger.
In 1968, her family purchased the Stonewall Jackson Hotel, where Bobbie worked until it closed for renovation. When the hotel reopened as a conference center in 2005, the Persinger family remained part of its legacy and continues as co-owners of what is now known as Hotel 24 South.
Her surviving family members include her son, John “Trey” Persinger Sandow and his wife, Laurie; her cherished grandson, Daxton Sandow; her brother, Allen Lee Persinger, Jr. and his husband, Gary Nimax; her close friends Kay Nimax, Dreama Brown, Teresa Brumbaugh, and Maureen Bodine; and her beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Oliver.
Bobbie was deeply loved by her family and admired by all who knew her. Her love and kindness will be remembered always.
The family will host a gathering of friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in the Colonnade Room at Hotel 24 South. During the gathering, guests will have the opportunity to share memories of Bobbie and reflect on the lasting impact she had on their lives.
Memorial contributions may be made to an animal rescue organization of your choice.
