Betty G. Grant

Betty Ann Graham Grant, 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Blue Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Harrisonburg.

She was born on January 11, 1948, in Prince William County to the late Wilbur Delton and Frances Lee McLain Graham.

Betty spent many years working as a secretary with Shenandoah Valley Head Start for Augusta County Public Schools, where she was known for her kindness toward the children and families she worked with.

Betty found great joy in crafting, cross stitching, sewing, and painting. She had a creative side and loved making things with her hands. Betty also enjoyed keeping up with family and friends while scrolling through Facebook and never missed the opportunity to enjoy a good parade. She especially loved going downtown Staunton to watch local parades and looked forward to watching the Macy’s Day Parade on television each year.

She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Ann Grant; her son, James Anthony Grant; her brother, Stewart Delton Graham and his wife, Karen; her sisters, Sharon Leigh Graham and Brenda Graham Kyle and her husband, Ray; her granddaughter, Kayla Grant; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her ex-husband, James Preston Grant, and her sister, Linda Jane Graham.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 PM.

Interment at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton will be private.

The family would like to especially thank the nurses, doctors, and staff of both Gentiva Hospice and Blue Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for all the care, kindness, and compassion Betty received.
