Betty Sue Robertson Hammer, 96, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at her residence in Staunton.
She was born on November 8, 1929, in Augusta County to the late Haskel Cleveland and Mary Aline Doyle Robertson.
Betty was a devoted and hardworking woman. She dedicated many years of service to Genesco before later working in the cafeteria at Beverley Manor Elementary School in Augusta County.
She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Methodist Church.
Above all else, Betty deeply loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Kay Hammer Sensabaugh and her husband, Rodney, Jr.; her son, Timothy Scott Hammer and his wife, Belinda; a special daughter, Debbie Walker; her sister, Lina Robertson Harper; her granddaughters, Ashley Hammer and Brooklyn Kennedy; and her great granddaughter, Cora Jane Polk.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Burnett Cleveland, Kenneth Derlin, Larry, and Donald Robertson; and her sisters, Pluma Louise Robertson Wilkerson, Beatrice Clara Robertson Welcher, and Stella Mae Robertson Glover.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Childrens’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
Henry Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
