FORT DEFIANCE - Betty Anne Humphreys, 78, of Fort Defiance, VA went home to be with the Lord on February 22, 2022. Betty Anne was born on May 30, 1943 to the late Emil Vincent and Betty O’Brien Steele. Betty Anne was a member of Middle River Church of the Brethren and then Barren Ridge Church of the Brethren.
Betty Anne worked in the roller skating industry from her teenage years until she retired in 2008. She was proud to offer a safe and fun environment for generations of children and families through the roller skating industry.
Betty Anne was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Anne Flick, her sister, Mary Sue Hildreth, and a great-niece, Kate Beagle.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Eugene Edward Humphreys and son John Edward Humphreys (Donna “Lynnie” Reynolds). Betty Anne is also survived by two grandchildren, Jason Edward Pease (Melissa Pulliam) and Stephen Wayne Flick (Danielle Banton); four great-grandchildren, Chandler Pulliam, Chelsea Allen, Lillian Roadcap, and Zaedyn Flick; a sister, Patricia “Tish” Harris; five nieces, Beth Hindle, Angela Beagle, Lori Sturgeon, Emily Harris Henry, and Alexandra Harris; a brother-in-law, James Humphreys; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Myers; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and special friend and helper, Jimmy Holmes.
The family will receive friends at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton, VA on Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 4-6 P.M.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Barren Ridge Church of the Brethren by Pastor Henry D. Elsea, Jr. Burial will follow at Thornrose Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Taylor, Heather Jones, Jerome Sturm, Chandler Pulliam, Jimmy Holmes, and Wes Bean.
