Betty L. Woolridge, 80, widow of Pete Woolridge, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 25, 2025.
Betty was born on September 24, 1945 in Highland County to the late Grover Cleveland Moats, Sr. and Lillie May Malcolm Moats.
Betty was a lifetime member of the Churchville Rescue Squad, and she played a pivotal role in supporting her local area. She was a member of the Church of God in Deerfield.
Always on the go, Betty cherished attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, always cheering them on. She also had a soft spot for community festivities, enjoying the Churchville carnival and local truck pulls.
Betty is survived by her sons, Pete Wayne Woolridge, Sr. (Anita Benson), Michael Cleveland Woolridge (Lorie), Carl William Woolridge (Vicki), Michael Ivan Woolridge and Leelynd Woolridge; one daughter, Rebecca Mae Kennell (Charles Prestridge) of Staunton. She is also survived by a special grandson, Mason Abshire, her grandchildren, Kayla Woolridge, Hannah Woolridge, Carter Woolridge, Matthew Kennell, Jeremy Kennell, Amanda Woolridge (Justin Craig), Wayne Woolridge, Jr., Jessica Brooks (Jeremy), Beth Woolridge, and Curtis Rankin; her great grandchildren, Cierra Woolridge, Wayne Woolridge, III, Ashlynn Woolridge, Destiny Craig, Thornton Craig, Lana Craig, Braxton Norcross, Daniel Norcross, Landen Woolridge, Brayden Woolridge, Khalilah Brooks, Khalil Brooks, Kamiyah Brooks, Atticus Rankin, Kadence Steffes and Brentlee Blackwell; and her beloved dog, Loretta.
In addition to her parents and husband of 62 years, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Vickie Leigh Woolridge; her siblings, William Smith, Gilbert Moats, Cleveland Moats, Ed Moats, Margie Vanfelt, Lucy Koiner and Virginia Simmons; and her beloved dog, Jack.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Reverend Merle Dodson. Burial will follow the service at Deerfield Community Cemetery. Following the burial, there will be a meal at Churchville Fire Department.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Woolridge, Matthew Kennell, William Woolridge, Justin Craig, Carter Woolridge and Pete Wayne Woolridge.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Churchville Fire Department (P.O. Box 608, Churchville, VA 24421) or to Henry Funeral Home (P.O. Box 1076, Staunton, VA 24402) to help with expenses.
