Bonnie G. Dodson

Bonnie Ruth Gentry Dodson, 90, a longtime resident of Staunton, passed from this life into her Father’s Kingdom on Saturday, August 22, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-five years, Adren Clinebell Dodson.

She was born on December 6, 1935, in Flint Hill, Virginia to the late Barbara and Willie Gentry.

Bonnie was a devoted and active member of Cherryvale United Methodist Church in Staunton for more than sixty-five years. Her faith and love for others were reflected in the many ways she served her church family, including twelve years as the Kindergarten Sunday School teacher and many years volunteering with the Friendship Club.

Above all, Bonnie treasured time spent with her family. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, Adren, and visiting and talking with friends.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Dunn and her husband, Michael, of Mineral, and Gary Dodson and his wife, Karen, of Staunton; her grandchildren, Shirley Dodson, Brendan Dodson, Joseph Dodson and his partner, Caroline Davis, Erin Dunn, and Anne Zimmerman and her husband, Sam; her sister, Lelia Scott of Ames, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Wiley Allen Gentry.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Cherryvale United Methodist Church in Staunton with Reverend Jonathan Greer officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00 PM.

Interment will be held the following day at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Flint Hill Methodist Church Cemetery in Flint Hill, Virginia.
