Charlott Carlene Bunnell Dean, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on January 28, 1947, in Clarksburg, West Virginia to the late Wilford Onan, Jr. and Magdalene Fincham Bunnell.
Charlott dedicated over thirty years to her career in the operations department for Community Bank in Staunton, where she retired in 2013.
Throughout her life, Charlott faced every challenge with an admirable strength, grace, and an unbreakable spirit that inspired all who knew and loved her. She was not only a hardworking professional but also an artist at heart. Charlott also found joy in sewing, painting, and gardening.
Above all, she treasured the moments spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, John Minor Dean. She is also survived by her daughters, Christina Orebaugh and her husband, Steve, and Myra Cook and her husband, John. Her grandchildren include Heather Lambert and her husband, John; Katrina Brucia and her husband, Joe; Joshua Lantz; and Logan Lantz and his girlfriend, Caitlin Anderson. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Kaylor and Braeton Lambert; her sister, Twila Irene Johnson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2025, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Steven Henderson officiating.
Interment will immediately follow at Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua and Logan Lantz, Joe Brucia, John Lambert, Jr., John Cook, Steve Orebaugh and Braeton Lambert.
