Christine Marie Graham Baker, wife of Michael H. Baker and mother of Jack, Lauren, and Matthew, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 28, 2025, at her residence in Staunton.

Christy was born June 8, 1978, in Fairfax, the daughter of Deborah Graham and the late James Allan Graham.

Christy lived her formative years in Fairfax, graduating from Falls Church High School. She furthered her education at JMU and it was during these college days that she met the love of her life and future husband, Mike. They were a devoted couple for 21 years, with many fun adventures and mutual love of Disney World, where they honeymooned.

Christy worked with the PEG Program at Mary Baldwin University for 25 years. She finished her master’s degree in Higher Education through MBU, as well. She loved her students and co-workers at MBU and enjoyed watching the students and university grow.

Christy blessed Mike and the extended family with three wonderful children, Jack, Lauren, and Matthew. She was an incredibly loving mother and wife, and Mike and her children reflect that love and support she always gave them.

Surviving are her husband, Michael Baker; their children, Jack, Lauren, and Matthew Baker; her mother, Deborah Graham of Lake Monticello; two brothers, James Graham (Gia) and John Graham (Stephanie); her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donnie and Margaret Baker; her brother-in-law, Ben Baker (Wendy); her aunts, Joyce Burd (Mark), Linda Cody (Brian), Valerie Divan (Mark), Michelle Cameron, and Charlotte Ellinger; and her uncle, Tom Powers. Christy is also survived by her nephews and niece, James, Walker, Allan, Jake, Lucas, and Ally, as well as her lifelong friends, Erin Fitzwater and Sarah Gordon. She has many surviving cousins.

She was preceded in entering eternal life by her father, James Allan Graham, and her father’s mother, Eileen Graham, to whom she was especially close.

Christy will be remembered for unwavering support and love for her family. She put her family first and made sure they always knew that her love will be with them forever.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Christ United Methodist Church in Staunton with the Reverend Madison Ailinger officiating.
