Christine G. Pilson

Christine Marie Glover Pilson, 58, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

She was born on July 25, 1968, in Staunton to the late Thomas Allen and Edeltraud “Eda” Protil Glover.

Christy grew up on a small farm in Barren Ridge, where she developed a lifelong appreciation for nature, gardening, and the beauty found in the world around her. From an early age, she also had a deep love of reading and creating. Her natural artistic gifts soon began to shine and would ultimately help shape the course of her life.

In addition to her creativity, Christy was an outstanding athlete. She excelled in both volleyball and track, setting multiple records and earning statewide recognition for her abilities. Her talent in volleyball earned her a full scholarship to Radford University. She later completed her collegiate career at James Madison University, where she discovered her true calling and chose to pursue her passion for the arts.

Christy's love of learning eventually led her back to the classroom, this time as an educator. She attended Mary Baldwin College, where she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching degree. She went on to teach at several schools throughout Augusta County, finding great purpose in encouraging creativity and confidence in her students. Her dedication to education was recognized in 2015 when she received the prestigious Teacher of the Year Award. Christy took great joy in thoughtfully planning projects that allowed her students to express themselves and feel genuinely proud of what they had created.

As her own artistic talents continued to grow, Christy rediscovered a special love for ceramics and pottery. She found a creative home at The Clayground in Staunton, where she spent countless hours working with clay alongside some of her dearest friends and family. Rarely did Christy create something without someone else in mind. Her pottery became an extension of her generous spirit, with pieces lovingly made for family, friends, and others who simply needed a thoughtful gift or a little joy in their lives. She believed deeply that the creative gifts God had given her were meant to be shared in service to others.

Christy's care extended far beyond the people she loved. She believed strongly in being a good steward of God's creation and lived those values in simple, meaningful ways. She supported conservation efforts for honeybees, found new purposes for materials others might discard, tended her home garden, supported local farmers, and sought to live thoughtfully and responsibly.

Above all, Christy had a remarkable way of caring for people. Whether through teaching, creating, giving, or simply welcoming others into her life, she treated so many as though they were part of her own family. The art she created, the students she inspired, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless gifts made by her hands remain lasting reflections of a life centered on creativity, generosity, and love.

She is survived by her husband, Nevin Dale Pilson; her son, Matthew Nevin Pilson; her daughter, Hannah Elizabeth Pilson; her sister, Julie Anne Glover Yeomans and her husband, Rick, and their children, Richard Anthony, III (Katie Lallo), Merab K. Hays (CJ), Rachel S. Yeomans (Baxter Ryder), and their two children, Maxwell Sage and Miller Thomas, and Nathanael Thomas; her sister-in-law, Mary Catherine Glover (Mark Protil), and her children, Abigael Nicole and Gabriel Patrick (Felicia Rogers), and numerous other family members.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Allen Dale Glover.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Duck Run Natural Cemetery in Penn Laird with Reverend Larry Roberts officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Augusta Regional SPCA (P.O. Box 2014, Staunton, VA 24402).
