Christopher Scott Reed, 60, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and dear friend, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at his residence in Goshen.

He was born on December 22, 1965, in Staunton, to William "Bill" Eskar and Marilyn Elizabeth Kinzie Reed.

Chris was a dedicated professional who worked at Wieland Provides, Inc. in Verona.

Beyond his career, he was a true jack of all trades. An avid outdoorsman, he also found joy in hunting, fishing, and traveling to the lake with his wife. He had a particular fondness for cornhole and was renowned among friends and family for his cooking, especially his fish frys, crawfish boils, and barbecues, which brought many joyful gatherings and lasting memories. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed working on roofs.

Above all, Chris was a great caretaker of his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lynn Millspaugh Reed; his loving children, Stephanie Ryder and her partner, Jamie McCoy, Brandon Millspaugh and his partner, Coralie Brazaitis and their children, Seamus and Theo, Andrea Ryder and her children, Jaxon and Evan, and Autumn Hanna and her husband, Jakob; and his sisters, Cindy Whitcomb and her son, Jeffrey Griffin and his wife, Rebecca and their daughter, Maggie, and Amy Montoya, and her children, Jacob, Amber, and Maria. He is also survived by his very special friends Jarrell Carter, Jeremy Wilson, Billy Hull, and Bob Wilfong.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Elizabeth Kinzie.

A memorial service at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg is planned for a later date.

He will be remembered for his generosity, his hands-on approach to life, his love of nature and family, and the warmth he brought into every interaction.

It is suggested that those desiring may make memorial donations to George Washington National Forest (5162 Valleypointe Parkway, Roanoke, VA 24019).

Arrangements are being handled by Henry Funeral Home.
